This bit with its long slide to the where the mouthpiece joins the shank gives a very strong leverage action and as with all leverage bits is best ridden with two reins so that the rider can play between leverage and less leverage. The stainless rollers disuades the horse from reaching into or leaning on the bit. The jointed mouth exerts a pinching action on the sides of the tongue and the sides of the bars of the mouth. Because the cheeks are long on this type of bit the leverage is severe, lifting the lips upwards and whilst pulling down on the poll at the same time. More Info

The same general actions apply as all American Gags but these copper rollers are much narrower than the thicker cherry rollers and are therefore potentially much more severe. The copper encourages salivation and the rollers encourage the horse not to lean into the mouthpiiece. The cheeks exert severe pressure to the corners of the lips and the poll area. More Info
